Justin Ennis
Assistant Winemaker

Justin grew up in the agricultural areas of Healdsburg and Santa Rosa, California.  He had an early interest in winemaking, taking viniculture courses right out of high school at the local Santa Rosa Junior College.  At the age of 18, he jumped into the wine industry as a harvest intern for Kendall Jackson’s Hartford Court.

Justin came to Freestone in 2007 after nine years as cellarmaster for Williams & Selyem Winery in Healdsburg, as well as harvest supervisor and cellarmaster for wineries in New Zealand and Argentina, respectively. Justin has also taken extension classes from U.C. Davis focusing on all aspects of viticulture and winemaking.”

Working closely with winemaker Theresa Heredia, Justin is responsible for all cellar work from barrel to bottle.  He supervises the annual cellar crew during harvest and is the year-round “Jack of all trades” maintenance supervisor for the Freestone Winery facility, water treatment system and equipment.

Joel Robledo
Vineyard Supervisor

Joel was born in the small village of Atacheo in Michoacan, Mexico where close to 80 % of its residents are involved with the growing of grapes in California.  Four generations of the Robledo family have worked in the vineyards of Sonoma and Napa and Joel continues this proud tradition by teaching his son and young nephew the craft of growing and tending superior wine grapes.

Joel began his career at the age of 16 working for Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards.  Now, with nearly 30 years of vineyard experience in Knights Valley and Napa Valley, this veteran of vineyard operations brings his talent and passion to the soil and vines of Freestone Vineyards.  Since 2003, Joel supervises a year-round crew of 15 where he relishes the challenge of growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.

Joel lives in Windsor, CA with his wife, Hilda, and his son Joel Jr.  Always preferring the great outdoors, Joel enjoys spending his weekends at his home tending his “100% organic and biodynamic” vegetable and flower garden.
